Consuelo Jerí
(Ayacucho, Perú, 1972)

A singer from the southern Andes of Peru, she offers a repertoire of anonymous and original Quechua songs, with an emphasis on poetic content. Her participation in the film “Kachkaniraqmi, Sigo Siendo” (2013) by Peruvian filmmaker Javier Corcuera (winner of the Goya Award, 2008) showcased her as one of the country's most important voices. She was invited to the San Sebastián Film Festival, as well as to the premiere of “Sigo Siendo” in Madrid (Casa de América) and the Canary Islands in 2014, and in 2015 to the film's screening in Paris, where her singing was praised by Radio France Internationale and Le Monde, among other media outlets. She has also been invited to the International Festival of High Altitude Music, which fosters musical exchanges between countries of the Himalayas, the Alps, and the South American Andes. She has recorded several albums, the most recent being “Yawar Sonqo,” with guitarist Marino Martínez and harpist Otoniel Ccayanchira, a master of the Andean harp. She has also collaborated with singer Susana Baca and for several years has toured cities in Europe and the United States, offering recitals and masterclasses in Quechua singing. Her most recent tour will take her to major Canadian cities in May 2026, accompanied by musicians from various continents, performing the compilations of Bishop Martínez Compañón made in Peru at the end of the 18th century. She holds a master's degree in Anthropology from the National University of San Marcos.
